The game looks amazing and interesting! But I'm not very good at English. Will there be more translations of the game? Like a Spanish translation?

(+2)

Thank you! Sadly, the game only is available in English, Russian, and German so far, but I might add a Spanish option in the future if I can find a translator.

If it helps, one of my other games is already available in Spanish: https://kigyo.itch.io/locked

I know I'm incredibly late to the party, but the remastered art looks amazing!!! I first played this back in 2020, and I just recently remembered it and decided to check in. I had no idea it was remade!! The new art is such a great improvement from the original while still keeping the main aspects from the old style. I couldn't even remember which version of the game I had actually played because the new art looks like how i remember the original looked.

Great game overall!! So glad I checked back in on this!!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so glad you enjoyed the game (and for such a long time, too)!

I think this game looks interesting and I was thinking of paying 3$ but my bro doesn't think it's worthwhile as the info on the characters isn't in the game outside of paying can I play the game without the artbook even though it'd tell me more of the characters involved?

Of course, the art book is completely optional and only provides more context about how and why the game was created. Donations are always appreciated, but the game can 100% be enjoyed for free!

Thanks for answering I only wondered as I don't like to go into a game not knowing what is going on I like to know who the characters are what the goals they have are and why. After all how is one to care what happens to characters if they know nothing of them?

Hi there!
I am creating a collection of fully blind accessible games, and your game is listed under the "blind support tag".  The word "blind" means different things to different people, and within that wide spectrum their are various levels of expertise with visual UI's.  but as a fully blind gamer, I am wondering what features this game provides for those who can not see the screen at all.  Do you have "screen reader" or "text to speech" support?  Is your game fully playable with a keyboard or controller, rather than having to point the mouse at buttons on the interface? If the answer to those questions is no, it would still be great to know what options are provided for those with less severe visual impairments, so that I might make them aware of your game's usability for them.  Thank you for any information you can provide, it's very much appreciated! :)

Hi, and thanks for your question. It’s lovely of you to create such a collection, and I would be happy if my game was included!

Robot Daycare supports text-to-speech (activated by pressing “v”) and is fully playable with a keyboard or controller. You can get through the entire game by advancing dialogue with the space bar and picking choices with the enter key.

However, there is one part (the text input where you can decide the robot’s name) that might not be very user-friendly from a blind person’s perspective. At the very least, the characters will repeat the name you entered so you can make sure it is correct. Still, I’ll see if I can improve that!

I will also double check if the achievements screen is read out loud by the screen reader, as I have unfortunately neglected to test that so far.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention!

Sorry for the late response, it seems like you are really on top of things! Seeing such responsiveness from a dev about accessibility is very nice.
You've already mentioned a couple of things that are worth looking into, but another one is to make sure that their are no visual only puzzles. I.E you can't finish it if you can't see it.
Aside from that though, it seems like you already have your head and heart in the right place on this matter, so thanks for being a good example to others! :)

hi! really quick question i have- i keep downloading it but my laptops windows protector keeps popping up, what should i do-

Hey, sorry to hear about that. The warning is safe to ignore, though!

Otherwise, getting the game via Steam should avoid this issue.

I'm blind it took me 2 years to learn how to use my devices independently. I love gaming but often there's not any or many accessible games I can find and play. I found this game underneath the blind accessibility filter on itch.io was just wondering since it doesn't say anywhere if there's accessibility options on the game after you download it? 100% OK if there's not but I just wanted to ask before downloading. Even if it's not accessible I'll look for a let's play of it on YouTube so I can experience it that way as well. Just wanted to ask so I can get clarification.

Thank you for your question! All games made with the Ren'Py game engine allow you to press "v" to activate assistive self-voicing, which will read all dialogue and menu items out loud. (So even Ren'Py games that are not tagged as blind-accessible may still be fully playable!)

You can advance dialogue by clicking or with the space bar, and choices and menu items are selected with the "enter" key. The game menu can be accessed by right clicking or pressing "esc". Menus can be navigated using the arrow keys, and "page up" and "page down" let you switch between different menus.

For Robot Daycare in particular, there is a "Press to Start" screen. I unfortunately really couldn't figure out how to make it read that out loud and it just says "New Game" instead. Either way, to start the game, press "enter", navigate down with the keyboard, and then press "enter" again.

If the voice sound effects are distracting, you can disable those by heading to the "Settings" menu, and navigating towards "Voice Volume". Then, you can select the slider using the "enter" key, drag it to the left with the arrow keys, and then confirm by pressing "enter" again.

Thank you again for bringing this to my attention, and please let me know if you run into any difficulties!

Thank you for answering! Also it's good to know that Ren'Py do have a greater chance of being accessible. I appreciate you telling me that as it's very helpful. Also thank you for explaining your accessibility features and also how to start the game and navigate settings. IT's very much appreciated. Again thank you for replying and being helpful. I'll definitely let you know if I run into any issues and I look forward to playing your game.

I loved the game, really, but I can't help to feel some parts of the backstory are weird, specially with the "get the law involved" and the "call the police". It was just weird, for me at least a logical solution for a collage student would be suggest therapy rather than involving the police. I'm also not an expert but I don't get the feeling that Ly had depression since no one I know with clinical depression brags about how they handle it when a friend also is depressed. It feels like he had something else, but again, I'm not an expert, but it just feels weird to me.

And I repeat, I loved the game. I recomend people play it since it's so good (aside from the coments above).

omg i love this game sm. i played it and got the bad ending but tbh i really enjoyed it for some reason. i loved lycoris in this ending it just felt so emotional and the characters really felt like real people. i really like both endings in their own way (even tho i prefer the bad one personally, both are great) and i really like Lilium and Lycoris (they are my faves) but all characters are great and they really feel 3 dimensional. tldr love the game, would recommend

my first ending was the snip snip plop one. so the wholesome good ending surprised me lol. still trying to get the last secret achievement ~

did you get it? if so did it follow the bad path or good?

(+1)

God dang was this story somehow both wholesome yet also terrifying. I got the Good Ending first because I'm soft like that but I was also curious about the other endings... I really regretted that to be honest... But I eventually got it so... hooray... Okay so I love how wildly different the story is and the art, the art is so cute! And I was also surprised at the choices, instead of having the MC (Nano) be the one to say those choices it was instead given to the characters which works since MC is a robot so they'd be a blank slate. I love how everything worked around, though truth to be told after getting the Bad Ending I quickly went back to get the Good Ending again because I couldn't handle it... Great game!

Thank you for your kind words! I completely understand why you would prefer the good ending, hahaha

I personally enjoyed this little story and the contrast between the offered outcomes.

You can read more about it in my review (https://gyepitypes.wordpress.com/2021/09/13/videogame-reviews-robot-daycare/)

So, what can I say about this VN.
The 2 finals are completely different, 2 different corners of the story, with a detailed narrative that doesn't fail on imagine what's happening.
The cartoonish style of art is very nice too, and got a big change, since the Jam ver of the game.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed the game giving my total attention on get the achievements too in 4 hours.

By the other side, I'd really love to buy the art book, I won't lie, by I don't have money on hand. But I will see what kind of support I can give, maybe a fanart, or maybe something more, but as a fan of the game, at least I have the personal obligation of spreading the word.

Nice VN Kigyo, I will keep an eye on your next games, if you have in plans make more of course. Keep on it.

Thank you so much for your kind words.

Don't worry about not buying the art book, I love seeing fanart more than anything!

Hey, I'm looking for a new horror game to play, but I don't do well with jumpscares- does this have any?

(+1)

Robot Daycare does not rely on any jumpscares. Enjoy!
