Hurt/Comfort (0.6.11)

Hey everyone!

A new Beta update arrived today, containing numerous ups and downs, and with major reveals just around the corner!

Aside from the story continuation, this was also a bit of a "spring cleaning" update, as I fixed several tiny bugs that have been bugging me for ages but most likely no one else noticed. Either way, I'm glad their reign of terror has ended!

Patch Notes

  • 10k new words. (230,000+ in total)
  • A brand new music track by Zaxcess!
  • A new CG for the computer scene(s)!
  • Revamped the cells with 3D renders!
  • Added a proper reward for beating the hard decologram in the arcade!
  • 6 new backgrounds!
  • Various new sound effects.
  • Reworked various scenes on the second floor.
  • Edited a CG.
  • Made it a easier to get Ashor's affection in the break room.
  • Removed keyboard controls using shift.
  • Locked a certain choice behind a certain amount of affection.
  • Added an audio filter to the game menu.
  • Added a pink filter to scenes in the arcade.
  • Changed the color of Ashor's (pixel art) shoes.
  • Fixed a visual bug when the inventory screen is hidden.
  • Fixed a display issue in the chibi CG gallery.
  • Fixed errors introduced to the break room with the visual enhancement.
  • Fixed a minor visual error in the flowchart when using the Affection Tracker.
  • Fixed crashes.

Both the reward for beating the hard decologram in the arcade, and the adjustment to the Ashor affection in the break room were introduced because they had been frequently asked about - some people even specifically joined our Discord server just to get answers for them. Maybe it was a bad marketing move on my part to remove a reason to join my server, but most of all, I want Artificial Selection to be fun and intuitive to play, so I hope these changes will help with that!

Demo update coming soon!

Last but not least, this month's escape room revamp involved the cells:

That means there's only one more until the Demo finally receives another update. I hope you're looking forward to it!

I'm happy to say this is the first update in over a year that hasn't been completed under extreme time pressure, so I'm glad I seem to have finally gotten the hang of that. In any case, people like you help me continue working tirelessly on this game!

As always, thank you so much for your support!
