Sprite Dilemma (0.7.3)

Hey everyone!

Another Artificial Selection update has arrived for Beta players today!

> Play the AS Beta

This one is admittedly a bit shorter than what I was aiming for, but the past few months of overworking myself have finally caught up to me. I've really struggled with staying motivated, and my writing has felt a lot less fun and inspired. So rather than forcing out a big update (to the detriment of the script's quality), I figured it's better I take a break. Thank you for understanding!

As a result, this update boasts the tiniest patch notes of all time:

  • 5k new words. (260,000+ in total)
  • Revamped the Itch.io store page!
  • Drew Absen's second sprite (but didn't include him yet).

That last point might need a bit of an explanation. Basically, Absen's second pose is done, and looking good!

So good, in fact, that he almost looks a bit out of place when directly compared to some of the other (older) sprites:

That's why I haven't had the heart to include him in the game yet. But Cooler Insiders can currently vote to change my mind! If you want to see him as early as next month's update, you can still make it happen!

SpookY2K #2 Win!

In better news, our game jam entry SpookY2K actually ended up winning second place out of 248 entries! It's been a huge honor, and I'm so proud of our wonderful team!

I added character customization to the game last week, so now your own little protag sprite will accompany all the deranged reasonable things you say! It's a great time to check the game out if you haven't already!

Plans for next month

With all that out of the way, I'll take the first week of November off, to hopefully recover from burnout a little bit. After that, I'll try my best to catch up to my own schedule again! Either way, there's a lot of fun things planned, and I hope you're looking forward to them.

Thank you so much for your support!
